June brings updates to one of the greatest icons of ergonomics. On this page, we have gathered the Aeron releases, highlighting the new color options that refresh the chair’s design without compromising the comfort, technology, and performance that have made it a global benchmark.
Aeron Chair in new colors
The Aeron Chair enters a new phase with the arrival of Nightfall and Jasper, introduced during Chicago Design Days. Created in 1994 by Bill Stumpf and Don Chadwick, the chair remains one of the most recognized benchmarks in ergonomics and design, and this update shows that its journey continues to evolve.
The launch gains strength from the “dipped in color” concept, which applies the same chromatic direction to different parts of the piece. Textiles, plastic resin, and aluminum undergo a calibration process to maintain a continuous tone throughout the chair, from the seat to the base. The effect is a more uniform shape that is better integrated into the space.
Herman Miller defines Nightfall and Jasper as Aeron’s new “near neutrals.” Nightfall features a more restrained midnight blue, associated with focus and calm. Jasper arrives in a deep, more organic green that warms the environment and moves the chair away from more predictable neutrals. This new chapter for Aeron also involves material choices, featuring more post-industrial recycled content, bio-based nylons, and a lighter aluminum base.
The result is a 12% reduction in the chair’s average global embodied
carbon footprint.
