Boalum table lamp
Created in 1970 by Livio Castiglioni and Gianfranco Frattini, and defined by Domus as “a serpent of infinite light,” the Boalum lamp immediately became part of Italian and world design history. Its structure in reinforced translucent flexible PVC with resin terminals makes it virtually indestructible. The various elements can be connected in series, up to a maximum of four pieces, and coiled as desired. It emits a diffused light and its timeless design makes it a classic piece, suitable for all environments. Thanks to its flexibility, which gives it a unique shape, it can be placed on the floor or on a table, hung or twisted to create new light effects every day. Produced from 1970 to 1983 and slightly modified in 1999, it has now been reconstructed, replacing the classic incandescent bulbs with high-efficiency LEDs. Boalum is part of numerous design museum collections, starting with the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Museum of Italian Design in Milan.
