The Nelson Bubble Lamps were inspired by a Swedish line of silk-covered pendant lamps that George Nelson wanted for his office, but found the price prohibitive. He then decided to create his own. An ingenious and creative designer, he developed the first version of the Bubble lamps using a translucent white plastic spray, a technique developed by the United States military.
