The Nelson Bubble Lamps were inspired by a Swedish line of silk-covered pendant lamps that George Nelson wanted to buy for his office, but the price was prohibitive. He then decided to create his own. An ingenious, creative designer, he went on to develop the first Bubble lamp version using a translucent white plastic spray, a technique developed by the United States armed forces.
