With Italian design and born from the vision of designers Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina, the Tolomeo lamp was launched on the market in 1987. It embodies the perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics. Tolomeo’s design is characterized by clean, minimalist lines, with an aluminum structure. This material gives the lamp not only a modern, sophisticated look, but also remarkable lightness and robustness. One of Tolomeo’s distinctive elements is its articulated arm system. Thanks to an innovative spring mechanism, the lamp can be easily adjusted in height and tilt, ensuring great flexibility of use. Two spring-loaded arms open from a single stem, allowing simple movement of the two diffusers.

Michele de Lucchi

De Lucchi was born in 1951 in Ferrara and graduated in architecture in Florence. During the period of radical and experimental architecture, he was a prominent figure in movements such as Cavart, Studio Alchimia, and Memphis. [ 1 ] De Lucchi designed lighting and furniture for renowned Italian and European companies such as Artemide, Olivetti, Alias, Unifor, Hermès, and Alessi. [ 2 ] At Olivetti, he was Design Director from 1988 to 2002 and developed experimental projects for Compaq Computers, Philips, Siemens, and Vitra. Giancarlo Fassina

After graduating in architecture from the Polytechnic University of Milan, Giancarlo Fassina (Milan, 1935–Milan, 2019) quickly specialized in lighting design. Light was his profession, in all its forms and expressions; therefore, he always paid attention to every detail, from the study of shadows and camera angles to exposure. Throughout his career, he collaborated with several major companies in the lighting sector and created numerous installations for exhibitions and museums. In 1989, together with Michele De Lucchi, he won the Compasso d’Oro award for the design of the Tolomeo lamp by Artemide.
