Charles Edouard Jeanneret-Gris, better known as Le Corbusier, was an architect, painter, and designer, and became one of the most important names in 20th-century architecture. Corbusier had a major influence on shaping the modernist generation of Brazilian architects, carried out extensive academic and theoretical work, and published many articles on his architectural studies. An admirer of Greek architecture, he studied the uses of the golden ratio and the Fibonacci sequence.
