Pepi Coat Rack
Pepi was the affectionate nickname given by Antônio Rossi (Rosso in the original), the maternal grandfather of designer Paulo Alves, who liked to call him a red-footed “bambino” running barefoot among mango trees laden with fruit. In the big city, he misses the scent of the earth and the green leaves that were once close by. Pepi, the coat rack, emerged as if from a magical dream of “The Boy with Green Fingers,” sprouting all kinds of plants wherever he went. On this coat rack, you may hang whatever you wish, but reserve at least one of this boy’s eight “fingers” for a small pot overflowing with greenery.
Perhaps one day our cities will have more trees than reinforced concrete pillars.
