Nelson Apple Bubble Pendant Lamp

George Nelson

This product is currently out of stock and unavailable.

Designed by George Nelson in 1952, these elegant lamps feature a durable yet ultra-light steel frame. Their delicate look makes the lamp appear to float.

The Nelson Bubble Lamps were inspired by a Swedish line of silk-covered pendant lamps that George Nelson wanted to buy for his office, but the price was prohibitive. He then decided to create his own. An ingenious, creative designer, he went on to develop the first Bubble lamp version using a translucent white plastic spray, a technique developed by the United States armed forces. Nelson designed the lamps from basic, organic shapes, resulting in variations such as the Apple pendant, the Pear wall sconce, the Lotus table lamp, and the Saucer pendant.
