The name Nave in Italian means “ship,” but also refers to the central nave of a church or the idea of something that contains and transports. In this piece, the concept of nave takes on a new meaning: it is a place of welcome, of displacement, and of encounter with the new. Inspired by the migratory routes that brought knowledge, materials, and affections from Italy to Brazil, Nave represents the gesture of leaving to arrive, of departing carrying inheritances, and of landing while transforming the place.
