Humberto da Mata was born in Brasília and graduated in architecture and urbanism from UnB in 2010. The following year he moved to São Paulo, where he began working with design. After exhibiting prototypes at Salone del Mobile 2012 in Milan, he opened a small studio in São Paulo where he dedicates himself to design research with unusual materials and construction methods, developing and producing pieces on a small scale with the help of artisans and small local industries.
