Igarapé Centerpiece
A vast volume of hand-blown crystal shifts in a direction that transforms the material into a tapered, ethereal form. The Igarapé centerpiece draws inspiration from the branches of the Rio Negro, which emerge from the river’s deep waters to become shallow, capillary streams permeating the Amazon basin. From the Tupi language, ‘ygara’ (canoe) and ‘apé’ (path), igarapé means ‘canoe path.’ With a form that suggests movement and direction, the Igarapé centerpiece arises from the reflection that, within this structure, the path of water is the path of man. Here, man and nature are one, following the same course.
