Patricia Urquiola was born in Oviedo, Spain and now lives and works in Milan. She attended the School of Architecture at the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the Polytechnic of Milan, where she graduated in 1989.
From 1990 to 1996 she was assistant at the Politecnico di Milano to Achille Castiglioni and Eugenio Bettinelli.
In 2001, she opened her own studio for product design, exhibitions and architecture.
She collaborates with leading brands. Urquiola has received numerous awards and recognitions, such as Designer of the Year, Elle Decor International Design Award, Chicago Athenaeum Good Design Award and the Cologne Design Award.
