Zanini de Zanine

Zanini de Zanine was born in Rio de Janeiro and grew up watching his father, José Zanine Caldas, work. He interned with Sergio Rodrigues, when he produced his first piece of furniture. In 2002, he graduated in Industrial Design from PUC-Rio. From 2003 onward, he began producing furniture in solid wood, using salvaged pieces – columns, beams, and posts from old houses – named “Contemporary Carpentry.” From 2005 onward, he began creating a new line of furniture with industrially produced pieces, using not only wood from controlled sources but also various materials such as plastic, methacrylate, metals, and parts from other industrialized products. To represent the furniture in this new line, Zanini created Studio Zanini in 2011.
