Patrick Jouin
Patrick Jouin was born in Nantes, France, in 1967. After graduation, he worked for Thomson Multimedia under the artistic direction of Philippe Starck.
In 1998, he founded his agency, Jouin, in the 11th arrondissement of Paris, and in 1999, he met Alain Ducasse, with whom he collaborated on the design of many restaurants, including “Alain Ducasse” at the Plaza Athénée, “Be-bakery-drugstore” in Paris, and “Mix Restaurant” in New York.
Jouin is characterized by a desire to reinvent industrial culture: in his works, he chooses forms derived from the mass consumption industry—industrial ovens, turbines, chimneys, molds, forges—and integrates them into the world of luxury.
He won the ADI Compasso d’Oro in 2011 with the “Pasta Pot” designed for Alessi.
