Nika Zupanc

Product and interior designer Nika Zupanc became a globally recognized name with the launch of the Lolita lamp, her first object produced by Moooi. Zupanc works as an independent designer and is constantly involved in new projects born from distinct interpretations of modern culture, contemporary design, and available technological options. Her products are part of the portfolios of renowned design companies such as Moooi, Moroso, and Nodus. Her acclaimed limited editions and installations are shown around the world, sometimes as part of high-profile collaborations such as the one with Rossana Orlandi. At the same time, Zupanc continually produces objects under her own brand and is involved in a range of interior projects. In addition to the Lolita lamp, Zupanc designed an extensive line of ready-to-use signature pieces, such as the 5 O’Clock Table and the 5 O’Clock Chair (Moooi) or the Tailored Chair (Moroso). But it is her conceptual installations that have shaped her into an authentic global voice— I Will Buy Flowers Myself (2009) and Gone with the Wind (2010) presented a collection of objects within dollhouse structures that became a milestone at Milan Design Week. The Black Cherry lamp, now one of the iconic pieces of her own brand, also debuted at Milan Design Week. The installations that followed, Selfdiscipline (2011) and Summertime (2012), mark the beginning of limited-edition collections in partnership with Rossana Orlandi, where Zupanc examines, with unwavering passion, the nature of furniture. In 2012, Ljubljana, her hometown, had the privilege of being the first to feature her work in interior design and art direction. The renovation of As Aperitivo is an introduction to her new venture in interior design. Since emerging on the global design scene, her work has been closely followed by the international press, describing it as “punk elegance” (Elle USA) and “techno chic” (BusinessWeek), as well as “larger than life” (Clear magazine), and Zupanc as “the real star” (The Wall Street Journal). Nika Zupanc’s work has also been featured in a number of international magazines.
