Luan Del Savio

Luan Del Savio (1989), from Santa Catarina, holds a degree in Industrial Design from the University of the Itajaí Valley, is a civil engineering student at the University of Western Santa Catarina, and a specialist in Production Engineering from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul.

Expression through drawing began early in his life, putting creativity on paper under the influence of diverse currents, both professional and abstract. This channeling flows mainly into the contemporary sphere, where he finds a solid surface on which to ground his creations.

Seeking to unite the emotional, creative side with production rationality and the entire universe surrounding product development, he specialized in engineering, bringing a synergy that enabled him to see the production chain in a way that gives objective form to his inventive thinking. His interest in industry then intensified, having worked for years in large companies professionally. After this strategic period of factory experience, he went on to create his own brand.

A modern line and clean design characterize the forms portrayed in the designer’s furniture, combining a minimalist, neutral concept with Brazilian singularity, present in the curves and materials used. His main inspirations draw on nature, films, music, and architecture—without limiting themselves to any one thing—seeking instead to bring a point of view on certain aspects.

Among the materials he works with, wood and steel make up the core elements in his projects, with wood as the predominant material—highly authentic, as it can give each piece unique characteristics, with a living identity of strength, tone, and density, enabling an exchange of energy with the user. Steel, in turn, provides a cold, solid modernity in contrast; both work together within the modern concept to endure physically and conceptually over time.

Del Savio believes that furniture must evoke some kind of emotion in the user, using functionality and elegance, yet without clashing with the whole. This stance lends his work purity and simplicity, highlighted in his contemporary design.
