Kranen and Gille
After graduating from Design Academy Eindhoven in 2004, Kranen and Gille, who found recognition in each other’s work, initially followed their own paths. When the two met again in 2006, they began working on a project to be exhibited at the 2007 Salone Del Mobile in Milan, “The Von Trapp Dining Room,” a series of products inspired by Tiroler volkskunst. Following this presentation, Kranen / Gille came to life as a studio, working on follow-up projects to be exhibited at fairs such as Design Miami and PAD London.
Over time, Kranen / Gille began working increasingly with consumer brands, creating accessible products in order to spread their vision of aesthetics. Kranen / Gille products primarily begin their existence as scrap sketches, in order to keep an open eye on the product itself. Working this way allows Kranen and Gille to design freely before the products end up in CAD programs, a quality we hope to feel when looking at a Kranen / Gille product.
