Currently living in Milan, Gustavo Martini was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1987, graduated in Industrial Design from PUC-Rio, and completed a Master’s degree at Istituto Marangoni. He was awarded by Wallpaper* magazine as “Next Generation Designer of the Year”.
During his first year in his own studio, he was invited to exhibit at the Brazilian Art Fair at Miami Art Basel and later that year at the MAM design store in collaboration with three other artists. With a résumé that includes many exhibitions also in Milan, his greatest passion is creating with complete freedom of expression and without obligation. Martini spends days exploring concepts and forms that create what he calls an “unpretentious experimental language for his projects”.
As he spent most of his life in Rio, he has a strong sense of connection with the city, which he believes combines two contrasting worlds. These include the metropolis with all its chaos and gray landscape, along with the rainforest surrounded by hidden beaches and waterfalls. With a strong identity, he has the ability to produce conceptual objects or products for large-scale production.
