After graduating from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 1989 – Edward belongs to the renowned generation of Dutch designers who have been making an international sensation for many years – he began in 1991 primarily designing patterns and products. With his own design practice, Studio Edward van Vliet now works on various projects in the areas of product, textile, and interior design for domestic and international clients. He focuses primarily on the hospitality sector, offices, private residences, and public spaces. Edward van Vliet translates his vision, creativity, and years of experience into unique (interior) concepts in which he combines three-dimensional design of lighting and furniture with two-dimensional patterns, layered prints and graphics, fabrics, and colors. Edward makes his designs powerful and surprising by applying contrasting materials and different patterns. Edward’s designs are easily recognizable by a blend of influences from traditional Western design, high-tech elements, and natural materials, finished with the latest production techniques. This particular mix of quality craftsmanship combined with influences from Middle Eastern, African, and Asian-inspired cultures is the foundation of the uniqueness of his designs, creating worlds within worlds.
