In 1949, Anna Castelli Ferrieri and her husband founded Kartell, which became a leading furniture company, known for its high-quality plastic designs. With Kartell’s success, the couple led modern Italian design throughout the 60s, 70s, and 80s. In 1976, Castelli Ferrieri became Kartell’s Art Director while still experimenting and creating for the company.

Anna Castelli Ferrieri was the first woman to graduate from the prestigious Polytechnic of Milan. Anna was a member of a generation of Italian designers who transformed the design world with new technologies and materials. Her intuitive elegance became the signature of modern Italian style.
