Embody began with the recognition of an unresolved problem: the lack of physical harmony between people and their technologies. Spending too much time interacting with our various devices, moving nothing but our fingers, can leave us stiff and tired because our bodies were made to move. With Embody, designers Bill Stumpf and Jeff Weber set out to solve this problem.

A new benchmark
More than 20 physicians and PhDs in the fields of biomechanics, vision, physical therapy, and ergonomics contributed their expertise to help guide the development of this chair. As a result, Embody set a new benchmark for pressure distribution, natural alignment, and support for healthy movement in an ergonomic seat.
Pixelated Support system
You feel Embody’s Pixelated Support system the moment you sit down—a sensation of floating, yet in perfect balance. Thanks to a dynamic matrix of pixels, Embody’s seat and back surfaces automatically adjust to your body’s micro-movements, distributing your weight evenly while you sit. This reduces pressure and encourages movement, both of which are essential for maintaining focus and healthy circulation.
BackFit adjustment
Embody’s backrest was designed like your back, with a central spine and flexible ribs. The BackFit adjustment allows you to position the backrest according to the natural curve of your spine, so you can achieve and maintain a neutral, balanced posture. As the chair is adjusted to fit your body, the backrest adapts to your movement and automatically adjusts to your positions as you move. Whether you lean forward or back, the support remains consistent.
Layers of intelligence
The Embody chair features four distinct layers of support, each with its own set of material properties and each created through a different manufacturing process, all working together and guided by your shape with such high fidelity that they even accommodate pockets. These layers were designed to allow airflow, keeping you cool and comfortable while seated.
