An enduring Eames design
The flexible Eames Aluminum Group chairs have been a popular design since their introduction in 1958. The graceful silhouette works well in all types of residential and workspace interiors. The wide range of material options offers a personalized look that, with its distinct form, reaffirms the excellence of enduring design wherever it is placed.
An enduring design
Originally conceived as outdoor seating in 1958, the Eames Aluminum Group has been well-received ever since.
Timeless elegance
It is surprising how a chair designed in 1958 primarily as outdoor seating still manages to look classic and contemporary in 21st-century interiors. The simple and refined lines of the chairs make them appropriate for all types of spaces, from elegant homes and offices to modern startups.
Aluminum Group chairs, upholstered in fabric or traditional leather, feature ribs at 4.76 cm intervals to provide a simple and refined appearance. In addition to powder-coated and polished aluminum finishes, the base and frame are available in eggplant, a classic option that complements black leather upholstery beautifully.
Innovation in comfort
Never known for favoring style over substance, Charles and Ray Eames gave the chair designs an innovative suspension that creates a firm yet flexible “sitting pocket” that subtly adapts to the body’s shape. They created this suspension by stretching a continuous piece of upholstery from the backrest to the seat, tensioned between lightweight aluminum side ribs.
Aluminum Group seat cushions feature a layered construction with fabric or leather upholstery. Cygnus mesh is a self-contouring and flexible material available on Aluminum Group chairs to provide ventilation, balanced weight distribution, and long-term comfort. Created specifically for the Eames Aluminum Group, Cygnus is an elegant option.
Executive and management models feature seat height and tilt adjustments.
Expanded options
Give this timeless design a high degree of personalization with its expanding material options. These include leather textures, standard or premium MCL—a 100% natural grain, dyed semi-aniline leather. Variations in color and surface marks are an inherent characteristic of this material, which acquires wrinkles and folds and develops a patina over time.
Expanded options
To complement lighter materials, we offer powder-coated finishes on the base and frame in white and graphite, along with traditional polished aluminum. Four-star base chairs feature non-marring glides, while five-star base chairs offer the option of casters for hard floors or carpets.
Durability
With unique curved side ribs and a die-cast aluminum base, the chair is strong yet lightweight and easy to move.
