Tempo Table Lamp

The Tempo Lamps emerge from the contrast of sand-box casting and three-dimensional printing techniques and the way such materials relate to light. Casting, as an ancestral technique that allows shaping metals, is counterposed to three-dimensional printing, a recent technology that allows creating surfaces with great plastic freedom and, as in this lamp, translucent. Formally, it is constituted by two opposing cones, like an hourglass. One of them being the base, translucent, in corn bioplastic, and the other as a dome in cast brass, polished externally. By having its base illuminated, it subverts the common logic in which it merely supports a dome. The roughness of the internal face of the cast piece, a mark of the artisanal process, is highlighted by the light at the meeting between the two cones.
