As the designer tells us, “as a rule, special things are less useful than normal things.” This statement perfectly encapsulates his guiding principle in developing design projects, which is to create objects that are not “extraordinary,” but “supernormal.” This is exactly what happened with Plato, a rigorous and minimalist chair that is also versatile and robust, suitable for both indoor and outdoor environments. As Jasper Morrison states, “a fully recyclable chair, with extruded aluminum legs and a cast aluminum shell: a technology that allows us to create thinner and stronger shells than plastic ones. There will also be an optional seat cushion, as well as a version with armrests.”
