The more people move, the more they need support that moves with them.

After ten years since the launch of the Mirra chair and more than one and a half million chairs sold, the designers at Studio 7.5 believed it was time to evaluate and, if necessary, rethink the original design. They observed, for example, that work has evolved. The more people move, the more they need support that moves with them.

Rethinking an original

Precisely because of this new agility in today’s work, the designers concluded that the idea of a highly individualized chair remains valid. While Studio 7.5 maintained the athletic attitude and intuitive adjustments of the original, they refined the material and form of that idea in virtually every aspect of the Mirra 2.

Testing ideas at full scale

Using full-scale models, the designers at Studio 7.5 test the validity of their designs and components. With the Mirra 2, each part received this real-world, tactile treatment until the most elegant solutions emerged.

Fewer materials, used intelligently

Building on its legacy as the first office chair developed from the ground up with environmental responsibility in mind, the Mirra 2 advances sustainable design by using and reusing materials. In redesigning the Mirra, as in all their work, the mantra at Studio 7.5 is “make every molecule count”. This means closely examining each element to arrive at the smallest possible amount of material and optimize performance.

“Design is collaborative by nature.”
