Inspired by Alexander Calder’s dynamic sculptures, the design interprets the idea of “elegant balance” through precision engineering. Ixa is a comprehensive and versatile family composed of an adjustable spherical head, rods, and counterweights. It is a smart and scalable principle that allows the Ixa family to expand with new versions. A larger head is combined with two new wall and ceiling structures, recalibrated to balance weight and direct light into the environment, meeting various lighting needs. Ixa expresses functional, productive, and sustainable intelligence through deliberate choices of reduction and simplification—the result of solid design expertise. Artemide and Foster+Partners share a deep approach to sustainable design, which permeates every stage of product development and stands as an essential element of the project. Ixa brings light where it is needed, inviting us to physically interact with the object, making us the authors of our own lighting space.
